Dear club members and local residents.

The Board of Directors of Asquith Golf Club have this morning made the decision to cancel our annual fireworks display planned for New Year’s Eve 2020.

It was not a decision made lightly, but we determined that it would be irresponsible of us to continue with the fireworks and potentially create a crowd situation which we could not control. Given the current Covid-19 conditions and concerns with crowds not practising social distancing, running an event where such a situation could arise was not something we were prepared to allow.

Our New Year’s Eve fireworks have become quite a social event for both club members and the surrounding community for several years now, and in recent years we have opened up our gates to locals and welcomed families onto our course to view our fireworks display.

We are disappointed that we would once again have to cancel this community event, having had to make the same decision in 2019 as a result of the severe bushfires which were raging twelve months ago.

Hopefully 2021 will be a far better year for all of us than 2020 has been, and we sincerely hope to be able to welcome members and the local community back to our course and club for our New Year’s Eve event in 2021.

Please note that the booked clubhouse function will proceed as planned.

Best wishes to you all for a safe and prosperous new year.
